Rain to
Hold Fashion Show in Hong Kong
Singer and actor Rain
(Full House) will hold a fashion show for his fashion brand
"Six to Five" in Hong Kong in June, according to J.Tune Creative on April
10.
Working as a designer
and model for the brand, Rain will also give a performance himself at the
F/W show, which he wants to use as an opportunity to promote the brand, as
many Chinese fashion people are expected to attend.
In another effort to
promote the brand, J.Tune Creative opened a Six to Five teddy bear museum
in Jeju Island on April 3 in cooperation with the Korea Teddy Bear
Association. It is set to build a similar museum in the Indonesian resort
island of Bali after finalizing a contract, and is working to sign a deal
to open another museum in Phuket.
J.Tune said that it
will develop other projects using the teddy bear theme for "synergy
effects."
Meanwhile, Rain held
an autograph session at the Nowon branch of Lotte Department Store on
April 5, and plans to hold the event at other local
branches.

Single mothers and
baseball coming to small screen
A slew of new dramas
are taking over both weekday nights and late-night weekends.
This weekend, MBC
aired its new Saturday and Sunday night series "Strike Love." Based on a
comic book series by cartoonist Lee Hyun-sae, the sports drama charts the
life of baseball pitcher Oh Hye-sung, played by Yoon Tae-young, and his
childhood love, played by hit medical series "New Heart" star Kim
Min-jeong.
While MBC is bringing
some sports to the world of drama, SBS is bringing yet another soap
opera-style series to weekday nights.
Following the highly
popular SBS series, "Wife's Temptation," "Two Wives," another outrageous
tale of adultery and betrayal, hits screens tonight.
Headed by Hallyu star
Kwon Sang-woo's wife Sohn Tae-young (Freeze), the new SBS series
revolves around the lives of Kang Chul-soo, played by Kim Ho-jin, his
wife, played by Kim Ji-young, and his lover Han Ji-sook.
Sohn Tae-young is
taking on the role of Kang Chul-soo's lover, Han Ji-sook. In an unlikely
twist of fate, Sohn's Han Ji-sook, a single mother, manages to wrest Kang
from his wife, only to lose him after a car accident. After his accident,
Kang contracts amnesia. Having been erased from Kang's memory, single
mother Han faces a tumultuous future.
Another kind of
single mother is slated to hit the small screen later this year. Olive
Nine, the entertainment and production company behind popular dramas
including "Jumong," signed a deal with the production company that
produced the hit flick "Speed Scandal" to make a television version of the
movie.
The movie follows the
escapades of a successful radio host, played by actor Cha Tae-hyun, and
his illegitimate daughter (he unknowingly fathered her with his first
love). His peaceful life is turned upside down when his daughter - a
single mother to boot - arrives at his doorstep unannounced. A series of
comic events unfold as Cha's character struggles to come to terms with his
newfound family.
"The drama version of
'Speed Scandal' will upgrade the charms of the three main characters,
showing episodes that delve more deeply into issues like childcare,
education and single motherhood," said a representative of Olive Nine. "As
a result, I think it will make for a fun and touching, well-made drama
that surpasses the original."
"Strike Love" airs on
Saturdays and Sundays on MBC at 10:40 p.m. "Two Wives" airs on Mondays
through Fridays at 7:15 p.m. on SBS starting tonight.

Hugh and Daniel
promote latest ‘X-Men’
Seoul welcomed two very handsome movie stars,
Hugh Jackman and Daniel Henney (My Lovely Sam-soon, Spring
Waltz), who were here to promote their latest movie “X-Men Origins:
Wolverine.”
Jackman, an Australian-born actor, who recently
hosted the 81st Academy Awards in February, appears as the mutant
superhero.
The Korean-American Henney, who rose to stardom
for his role in 2005 MBC-TV’s “My Lovely Sam-soon,” plays Agent Zero, one
of Wolverine’s enemies.
“Wolverine is a mutant with very long claws and
a lot of anger management issues,” said Jackman at the press conference
last Friday afternoon at Korea House in central Seoul.
“My character also has anger management issues.
Big problem,” Henney added in English, after introducing himself fluently
in Korean.
The 29-year-old joined Wolverine after the
casting director for the film watched “My Father,” a Korean film made in
2007 about an adopted son who searches for his biological parents in
Korea.
While Henney’s love for Korea was frequently
expressed in the past, Jackman revealed thoughts that are less widely
known.
“[My father] was always talking about Korea. I
feel like I know Korea very well,” he said, referring to his father’s
frequent business trips to the country. “I was quite insistent that we
come here, not just because of Daniel. There were many times when we were
shooting when we talked about this very day.”
After being appointed as Seoul’s goodwill
ambassador at Seoul City Hall’s Seosomun Annex, Jackman attended a red
carpet, hand-printing event with Henney at Cheonggye Plaza in downtown
Seoul.
“Hello. It’s good to be in Seoul,” he said
slowly, showing off his well-rehearsed Korean.
Jackman was certainly the superhero of the day.
After he got comfortable on stage, the 40-year-old actor suddenly took off
his tie and threw it to his adoring fans. Then he ripped off his shirt to
reveal a black shirt bearing the words “I Love Seoul.”
When the crowd began to cheer, he lead them in
the famous Korean football anthem for supporters, “Oh Pilseung
Korea.”
“I came to Korea in 2006 just before the World
Cup. I was wearing the Red Devils shirt, but many people around the globe
thought it was a Manchester United shirt,” he had explained earlier in the
press conference.
He was referring to the red shirts popular with
football fans in Korea during the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.
“I still have the shirt,” he added. “If I’m not
going for Australia, I always go for Korea in soccer.”
The two actors left Seoul on Saturday to the
disappointment of many, but the consolation is the movie opens in theaters
all across the nation on April 30.
