Lee Seung-Gi Would Like To Have Chance to Act in Japan Too

All-around entertainer Lee Seug-gi held a fan meeting for the first time in a year, after performing a show entitled "Lee Seung-gi Live & Talk 2010" at Sun Plaza Hall in Nagano, Tokyo on the evening of February 12.

He is well-known to Japanese fans, starring in the sitcom "Nonstop 5," the drama "The Infamous Chil (7) Sisters," and a segment of the variety show "1 Night 2 Days of Happy Sunday."

He showed a good proficiency in Japanese at the interview ahead of his show and explained, "I started to study Japanese 3 years ago after I watched the drama 'Pride' starring Kimura Takuya." He added, "I keep studying Japanese. I would like to have a chance to act with him in Japan if his tight schedule allows him to do so."

He performed his songs such as "Will You Marry Me," "I'll Give You All," and "Because You're My Girl" as well as "Let's Break Up," a song from his fourth album entitled "Shadow" released in September, 2009.

He expressed his appreciation, saying, "I appreciate my fans who came in full attendance to cheer me on warmly although I came back to visit you after a year." Also, he revealed an episode where he brushed his teeth many times because he was requested to do more than ten takes of a kissing scene from different angles in the drama "Brilliant Legacy." Hallyu Star Lee Seo-jin Establishes Environmental Fund

In Japan, Hallyu (Korean Wave) star Lee Seo-jin donated his whole signing guarantee from “Color Pink Magic BB cream” and “BBQ Chicken” to the environmental fund “Let’s Tree.”

On January 14, Lee Seo-jin and the Foundation of Japan held a press conference in Japan to announce the launching of the environmental fund “Let’s Tree,” which they co-founded.

In the press conference, president Sasakawa of the Japan foundation, Jeon Young-sun of Color Pink Japan, and Yoon Hong-keun of Genesis as well as Lee Seo-jin attended.

President Sasakawa expressed appreciation for the generous deed by Lee Seo-jin, saying, “We will give him full support with our knowledge and experience.”

Lee said, ”I appreciate Japan Foundation’s help on this project and I have a strong sense of responsibility towards the fund.” He emphasized, “I have always thought that I will repay my fans’ love one day because I have been loved by many people.”

In addition, Lee said, “I am so glad that I can establish a fund for the environment, owing to many Japanese fans’ love for Korean dramas.”

Lee added he realized the importance of trees when he had been performing as house honorary ambassador for Korean Habitat. (Read more)

Kim Seung-woo Hosts KBS's New Talk Show

Actress Kim Nam-joo will appear as the first guest on the premiere of her husband's first talk show on KBS 2TV.

The talk show, the successor to ”Roundtable Plus” and entitled “Seungseungganggu” (which means “continuing to thrive” in Korean), will begin airing on February 2, 2010 at 11:05 P.M. according to a statement made by KBS on January 18th.

During the first show of “Seungseungganggu,” actor Kim Seung-woo will interview his wife Kim Nam-Joo, who starred in the drama "My Wife is a Superwoman," as his first guest.

According to KBS, this show will be the first in which a host invites his wife to his own talk show as a guest. However, they said the pair will meet and share conversation based on their relationship as host and guest--not their personal relationship.

“Seungseungganggu” will consist of two parts: one is the celebrities’ interviews, and the other is "A Very Special Promise-Let's Meet," which is a type of project aimed at keeping promises made between the host and viewers.

During "A Very Special Promise-Let's Meet" segment, the host and selected fans will carry out their respective promises. First, the host will announce the place, the date and time, and the promise. The viewers can also respond with their own promises or comments about the host's promise. Fans who are picked based on their comments can participate in the show at the chosen place and time.

Kim Seung-woo said, "As a rookie host, I will do my best to make the show bring out deep and honest conversation from the guest celebrities."

Behind the Scenes of Road No .1,
the upcoming Korean War drama starring So Ji Sub and Kim Ha Neul.

 

MBC’s Korean War drama Road No. 1 has released behind-the-scenes shots of its large-scale production. The series began filming in January, and has currently shot five episodes’ worth of footage (apparently out of episode order). The drama boasts a budget of 13 billion won and is set amidst the outbreak of the war on June 25, 1950.

“We really became close after My Girl. He’s a close oppa to me, and I met him the day before he enlisted for military service. We exchange text messages now, too. Back in the days of My Girl, netizens grabbed onto photos of us wearing similar hats, accessories, and using similar phones and that caused a misunderstanding. There were photos of Dong-wook in sponsored clothes and me in photo shoots that were different, but comparing them later I thought it was pretty interesting.”
 
Then what is your ideal type like?
“Earlier this year, there was an “ideal type world cup” on KBS’s Sweet Night and Daniel Henney was picked as the top selection. That’s true for me too. I’ve thought of making an international marriage, too. I like men who are gentle and understanding. However, I also tend to feel disappointment strongly so once I think it won’t work, I turn away for good.” (more)
